Hi! It’s Will, the new digital marketing assistant with a focus in social media marketing and content creation at Key Principles. Can you believe it? I’ve just wrapped up my first few weeks with this incredible agency. Starting a new job can be overwhelming, but luckily, I hit the jackpot with such a supportive and amazing team. They’ve made my transition so much smoother.
Before diving into what I’ve learned and accomplished at Key Principles so far, let me give you a glimpse of my background. Back in 2016, I graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a BSc in Coaching and Sports Science. Yep, quite different from digital marketing, right? After graduation, I embarked on an adventure coaching football (or soccer, I should say!) on the beautiful West Coast of the US for about six months. But here’s the plot twist – during that time, I discovered my passion for the business side of things.

So, I made a bold move and pursued an MSc at Sheffield Hallam University in Sports Business Management. That’s where I fell head over heels for marketing. The strategic thinking aspect whilst also helping people really clicked with me. This enthusiasm shone when I landed a placement at Sheffield FC, the world’s first football club, where I conducted a study on increasing home attendance at matches. Some of the recommendations are still being used today!
And then, COVID hit. Like many fresh graduates, I found it tough to secure a job in the aftermath of the pandemic. But being the resilient person that I am, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I teamed up with a friend and started a football podcast. Little did I know that the techniques I used back then would come in handy today! We even promoted the podcast on various social media platforms.
Alright, now that you know a bit more about my background, let’s dive into everything I’ve learned and accomplished during my initial weeks at Key Principles.
First and foremost, I want to highlight the invaluable training I’ve received. I successfully completed two Click-Minded online courses, which I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone interested in digital marketing. These courses provided me with a solid foundation and equipped me with the necessary skills to excel in this field.
One of my most exciting learning experiences has been mastering the additional features of Canva. As a social media content creator, having the ability to leverage advanced features in Canva has taken my creative skills to new heights. I can now create stunning visuals that captivate our audience and drive engagement.
Attending team meetings at Key Principles has been incredibly informative and enlightening. These meetings have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the agency’s overarching strategy, goals and ultimately high standards. On a personal level, to get to know my colleagues so far has been an absolute pleasure.

But it doesn’t stop at training and meetings. I’ve also had the thrilling opportunity to write social media posts and case studies for Key Principles. Crafting engaging and impactful content that resonates with our audience has been both challenging and rewarding. Seeing my work being used and appreciated by the team and our followers has been a truly gratifying experience. I’ve also had the privilege of working with my first clients. Witnessing my efforts come to life and directly contribute to their success has been incredibly fulfilling.
There you have it—the highlights of my journey so far at Key Principles. I’m incredibly grateful for the learning experiences and accomplishments that have come my way. I’m excited to continue growing and achieving even more as I embark on this thrilling digital marketing adventure. I cannot wait to help even more businesses. And to any potential clients reading this blog, just know that your business is in safe hands to achieve the best results.
