We’ve always been interested in becoming more sustainable, but as many SMEs will agree, this is often a lot easier said than done. Well, one of our biggest goals has been achieved today, we’ve partnered with a carbon-offsetting company to help in reducing our carbon footprint.
Being a small agency that works almost entirely remotely, we initially struggled to find ways of further reducing our footprint, as our work is inherently relatively low-carbon. Despite this, we knew that we still wanted to make a difference and hopefully raise awareness of how other SMEs could do the same.
As such, we spent a lot of time researching the best options available to us. We found that carbon-offsetting could be an option, but soon learnt that not all carbon offsetting companies are as transparent as they ought to be.
After rigorously comparing the authenticity of work carried out by various organisations, Key Principles are proud to have teamed up with Ecologi. They have simplified the way that SMEs can make an impact, and only work with Gold Standard accredited schemes, with 85% of donations going towards the projects and 15% towards running Ecologi, meaning that donations help to fund genuinely transformative projects across the world.
For any SMEs wanting to make a difference, we can definitely recommend Ecologi, as not only do they have options for monthly offsets for each employee, but they also have a pay-as-you-go option too, which we will be using in addition to our monthly contributions for each of our employees.

How much have we contributed?
Each month we will be contributing towards the planting of 30 trees, the funding of a wind power project in South Africa and a solar power project in Vietnam. Within just one month we have already helped to reduce 1.5 tonnes of carbon emissions, which is the equivalent to 3,722 miles driven in an average car.
