The more thorough you are at this stage the better the
final outcomes will be as this is the foundation of your

procedure for the identification of your key phrases.
- Brainstorm words – working with you we compile your initial key phrase list. We consider what phrases your customers might put into a search engine? How customers would describe your product or service if they were looking for a product, service or company like yours – what would they put in a search engine?
- Identify current phrases visitors use – if you already have a website you will hopefully have some information on the key phrases visitors are currently using, you may even be able to identify which phrases generate enquiries or sales! We will review your web statistics to see how people are currently finding you
- Evaluate your key phrase list for
- Popularity – how often people search for particular phrases – Key Principles uses a key word tool that identifies how often phrases are used and how much competition for the phrases there is on the internet
- More phrases – identify other phrases that might be more ‘appropriate’
- Key phrases recommendations – a report outlining the phrases is provided. Ideally we would want to identify a single phrase for optimisation on each page of your website. If we identify additional phrases, it may be that additional web pages need to be developed.
There are at least three types of key words/phrases: key words for browsing, key words for comparing and key words for BUYING. Key words for comparing are best for search engine optimisation. If you are even more specific and the volumes will be too low and you will be missing out on the comparing stage.
